    The DMIR Research Group is a highly interdisciplinary group of researchers led by Prof. Andreas Hotho. We are excited about novel methods in the areas of artificial intelligence, machine learning, big data and data science.     Job description 

    The DMIR group at the University of Würzburg is looking for two highly motivated candidates to join the DMIR Research group to develop and research novel methods at the intersection of machine learning and fraud detection. Together with collaborators from our business faculty as well as several industry partners, we aim to detect manipulation, adverse activity and fraud in enterprise resource planning systems using state-of-of-the-art machine learning, big data and data mining methodology, such as deep learning, Bayesian modeling, and pattern mining.     Requirements

    For the two positions, we are looking forward to applicants with a master degree of above average grades in computer science, mathematics, physics or related fields. The ideal candidate is

    • highly motivated and 
    • passionate about machine learning, big data and data mining.

    Also,

    • the drive to apply novel methodology,
    • the ability of approaching challenging situations, 
    • the interest in working in a multidisciplinary team environment,
    • the willingness to learn from others, 
    • as well as problem solving skills and 
    • high creativity 

    are a strong requirement. Further citeria, that may specifically qualify you are

    • experience with machine learning and data mining,
    • strong programming skills,
    • skills in tensorflow or pytorch,
    • and an affinity to Python ;)

     

    Tasks

    The tasks connected with the position are the following: 

    • Perform fundamental and applied research in the areas of ML and fraud detection 
    • Actively participate in the research activities of the "Data Mining and Information Retrieval" (DMIR) group 
    • Present research results at top international workshops and conferences, exhibits, and project meetings 
    • Co-author articles for publication in leading peer-reviewed journals and top conferences 
    • And most importantly working towards your PhD thesis!

     

    Conditions

    The position is a limited-term contract from the earliest possible date.
